You're young until you're not, you love until you don't, you try until you can't, you laugh until you cry, you cry until you laugh, and everyone must breathe until their dying breath. No, this is how it works. You appear inside yourself. You take the things you like, and try to love the things you took, and then you take that love you made and stick it someone else's heart, pumping someone else's blood. --Regina Spektor

Sometimes I wonder if my cleft lip and palette has become more of a blessing than anything else. Several months ago a man came in and noticed I had scars on my lip from my surgeries; he then proceeded to show me pictures of his tiny newborn baby who had such a severe cleft lip/palette that the cleft had bisected her eyelids and she was in danger of going blind from that (and was SO tiny that they were afraid she wasn't going to make it). A few days ago, she came in to tell me that her child had had her first surgeries and was doing well; she's going to email me pictures of her daughter. :) Not twenty minutes after that, another woman introduced me to her seven-year-old son who also had a cleft lip. I like to think that I made some sort of difference in his life by telling him he had a friend in me and that he should always visit me when he comes to the mall; his mother told me he'd been down on himself pretty hard lately, so I tried to be positive. It's not hard when you realize how much your actions could potentially mean to someone.

Thinking positively also should help one of my favorite coworkers, Carla, who has breast cancer. She's my favorite person to work with and I'm trying to send good vibes her way, so if everyone else could do the same I'd appreciate it. Even if it's just a little.

Work has been extremely busy and I've had way more hours lately than I've had in awhile - it feels back to normal. I'm not worried about money as much anymore, and in fact I may have some extra spending money for Dragon*Con, which is in a month! I can't wait! I bought my tickets and am just waiting for the postcard to arrive in the mailbox so I can go ahead and get REALLY excited. Vacation is so nice, and Dragon*Con has the added bonus of being around my birthday. :D

Final thing, as I am in Karazhan at the moment about to do Prince, Lumi has gotten relatively geared out; this run I've gotten a new epic helm and belt; it brings me to a grand total of seven pieces of epic equipment. Woot! Now all I have to hope for is that the Sunfury Bow of the Phoenix drops - and I win the roll. :)
