You're young until you're not, you love until you don't, you try until you can't, you laugh until you cry, you cry until you laugh, and everyone must breathe until their dying breath. No, this is how it works. You appear inside yourself. You take the things you like, and try to love the things you took, and then you take that love you made and stick it someone else's heart, pumping someone else's blood. --Regina Spektor

Good thing I'm getting some money back from my Pell Grant, because I have a feeling I'm going to need it. The textbook for my sociology class is $110 new alone. Not to mention what I might have to buy for math. /o\

Edited to add:
Haha, my math textbook was $49. I'm kind of relieved. That leaves me broke 'til my refund check arrives, but at least I don't have to worry about falling behind in Math 120. Somewhat ironically, this math looks easier than Math 118 -- because it's things that can be applied to real life, I think, instead of just math rhetoric.

Anyway, success!

Recount of the day so far -- I'll edit this entry when I get home to tell y'all about my math class (not that anyone really cares about what I do twice a week). Really, this is just so I can kill the next hour and a half.

I stood around in the student life center watching the Inauguration with the biggest group of people I'd ever seen at Delgado. I got to school around 10:45 and managed to watch about 15 minutes of it before I had to get to my first class -- this means I didn't get to see Obama sworn in, but I did get to see Biden sworn in, and listen to Aretha Franklin sing "Let Freedom Ring." That woman can sing her ass off.

My first class is The Bible as Literature, taught by Ms. Rihner. She's pretty cool; definitely upbeat and pretty laid back. I stopped by to get a packet of papers from her just now and she thanked me for coming by. I think it'll be interesting to see how people react to reading the bible as literature -- Rihner stressed that it's not a theology course, but I'm betting on someone flying off the handle at least once in the semester. :| We're to refer to Jesus Christ as "Jesus," the literary figure, as opposed to "Christ" the theological figure, which I thought was kind of a neat distinction. I'm going into this knowing VERY LITTLE about the bible.

My second class is Creative Writing (YAY!) with a professor who is NOT Missy Diaz. Instead, I have Dr. Cook, and I've heard awesome things about him, too. We're all a bunch of freaks in that class, though I was glad to see that one of the girls from Brit Lit also took that class. There is a tall, thin black guy (who has the coolest name ever -- Robert Romance) who I would have never in a BILLION YEARS guessed writes Harry Potter fanfiction. XD~ There are a couple of people in there who are pretty awesome -- and then there's the girl who is the very definition of Painfully Nerdy: the one who, while hiding behind her hair, told us about her six cats and the fact she's a theater major and she went to six high schools in two years because of "problems with bullying" and who talked about the fact that she roleplays on a number of forums.  And I'm like, ASDLKJ YOU DON'T TELL PEOPLE THAT. DDDDD: I mean, christ, the nerdiest I got was mentioning I played WoW.

However, Dr. Cook looks like he's going to be a LOT of fun. I seriously cannot wait to take the class again. I'm going to print out some of my poetry and submit it to Images (the college literary magazine) on Thursday. I guess I'm just glad that now I really have more incentive to write, and this class will jumpstart me again. ;D

Also, i-it seems that I'm not giving up this livejournal just yet. I was gonna move to [livejournal.com profile] d4msel , but .. I went ahead and bought paid time for this one. Also, rich text can die in a fire, I've edited this entry a BILLION TIMES because apparently it doesn't like HTML. >:(
