Today I worked for eight hours in a store with no air-conditioning, the heat index was 104 degrees, and the store was filled with overweight to obese women swarming around because of our 40% friends-and-family sale. It was, in all, a humbling experience, especially because I was measuring about half of them for the new jeans. Getting that up close and personal with women who are in a shopping frenzy is an invitation to discover all sorts of new smells. All of the associates were operating under a cloud of sweat and lowered personal intelligence; it was fucking hot in that store. I hope they get the air conditioning fixed by Friday, because that is NO way to live!
Life has been, as perfectcherry so aptly put it, weirdly and liltingly normal. I am enjoying it. The weather has been normally tropical for this time of year, we've had decent amounts of rain (although this past week we've had heat advisories -- however, it IS August), and so far there have been no noteworthy storms in the Atlantic. Last night, Jackie, Carl, Rachael, Germaine and I all played our Rifts campaign at Jean-Paul's house in Gentilly Terrace; although there was no appearance by JP's mysterious girlfriend, a good time was had by all. I haven't been able to attend the Rifts sessions in months, and while I DON'T miss playing my bumbling idiot of a cyberknight, I do miss playing my six-inch-tall fairy of doom.
Eighteen days 'til Dragon*Con!

You're young until you're not, you love until you don't, you try until you can't, you laugh until you cry, you cry until you laugh, and everyone must breathe until their dying breath. No, this is how it works. You appear inside yourself. You take the things you like, and try to love the things you took, and then you take that love you made and stick it someone else's heart, pumping someone else's blood. --Regina Spektor
